TCAT SEND: Teaching and Learning

Young people with SEND have the greatest need for excellent teaching and inclusive practice. These resources have been designed to support colleagues in the classroom. Our vision statement, ‘What is good for SEND, is good for EVERYONE’ reflects the EEF position that, ‘the starting points for educating all young people are the same; an acceptance of diversity, pupils’ rights, and the knowledge that all can learn if they receive good teaching.’ (EEF Guidance Report)

The SEND Code of Practice clearly states that the quality of teaching for pupils with SEN should be a core part of our approach to professional development for all teaching and support staff. The number of young people with SEND has risen significantly and it is important we understand and use teaching approaches to support them. These resources support the EEF recommendations on special education needs in mainstream schools.
